Boudoir Photography – Frequently Asked Questions
The thought of a boudoir session can be scary. When talking to women about their session, I get asked all kinds of questions. So I wanted to compile a list of my 12 most frequently asked questions to give you some insight on preparing for a boudoir session with me!
Do you share my images?
Our number 1 priority making sure our clients are comfortable, especially with boudoir! It can be a life changing experience, but that also makes it nerve wracking! Sometimes, you are learning how to love your body and you aren’t quite ready to share the images with the world, or sometimes these photos are specifically for your spouse aren’t for anyone else’s eyes. These are all great reasons for not sharing your photos, and it all depends on your personal preferences! If there are photos that I would like to share, I will ask your permission first, and only share what you are comfortable with!
Do I have to wear lingerie?
You definitely don’t have to specifically wear lingerie, it depends on your personality! There are a BUNCH of outfit ideas other than lacy little things! Head over to this blog about choosing outfits to see some more ideas!
Do you have payment plans?
We offer a few payment options! There is a booking retainer to book your shoot, and your image order can be divided up into monthly, bi-monthy or weekly payments and set up automatically on your credit card. If you want your order real fast I have a new Quick-Method I can set up and you get your order A.S.A.P! Let me know if this is something that you want to set up!
Is hair and makeup included?
YES! Hair and makeup is included in all of our boudoir shoots! I think it’s really important for you to feel pampered, and having your hair and makeup done is a great way to do that! Our amazing team can help you complete your look, whether that’s “I just woke up like this” or Full on glam! You can bring any ideas you want for your makeup and we can try to use it for inspiration!
Do you Photoshop my images?
I do edit your images for light, exposure, and color balance. I do NOT however edit anything “out” that is permanent! I think it can be damaging to have a boudoir session done, and then edit out parts of yourself that make you who you are! Part of the process of accepting yourself and seeing your beauty. Basic photoshopping is included and you can certainly make edit requests during your viewing session. If there are parts of yourself that are learning to love and aren’t thrilled about, that is okay! We are skilled in posing and lighting to make you look your absolute best and brings out your shine!
Where should I buy outfits?
There are a few places to buy outfits from and it depends on what you are getting and the style of your shoot! Here is a long list to choose from with different style and sizing! Victoria’s Secret, Forever21, Adoreme.com, SHEIN, Torrid, eberjay.com, Aerie, foreveryourslingerie.ca, hipsandcurves.com, jasminestaceycollection.co. If you are looking for something specific that you can’t find, let me know and I might know where to get it!
What type of print products do you have?
We offer a variety of albums, canvas and metal wall portraits! The photo albums are so amaing and luxurious! Just look and feel the swatches of the sample album covers and you will know it is high quality. So many colors and textures to choose from. "I absolutely love the feel of picking up a physical photo album, it’s so surreal to see yourself like that! ”30" glorious and pages from the boudoir shoot that I flip through myself every chance I get. I think I look at them more than he does. It’s a daily reminder that my self-image has completely changed after having my boudoir shoot.” –Alex, on her experience at her boudoir shoot!
Do you offer digitals?
All of our packages include the matching flash drive! Every image you choose for your collection will be retouched and saved on a flash drive for you. You can also add more images just as digitals beyond your photo album. Before I send your album design into the lab for printing I will send you a private locked online gallery. You get to see all of your beautiful images, download and share!
I’m freaking out! How can I calm my nerves?
Nerves are all part of the experience! I always say that it would probably be weird if you WEREN’T nervous. The nervousness in the beginning of your shoot make your moment of “WOW” seeing your photos for the first so much better!
How many outfits should I bring?
I suggest bringing 6-10 outfits. If you bring 10 or more outfits that is great too! Right before your photo shoot I want to see your outfits and then we can decide which ones are best for boudoir and choose which outfit you will wear for different areas in the studio. And bring high heal shoes and tall boots too!
Should I get to my shoot early?
You should always plan on getting to your shoot about 10 minutes early so we can talk about your outfits and colors and make a plan for hair and makeup! I will also take your before picture.
Where is your studio located?
We are located in Yakima Washington. I have been in this commercial building for many years and I am right across the street from the bowling alley. It's easy to find.
